The largest single donation of hair by an individual (female) is 172 cm (5 ft 7 in), by Ruth Tripp (UK), in Exeter, Devon, UK, on 1 September 2024.

Ruth had grown out her hair over many years, and was ready to get it cut before finding out about this record. She decided to wait a little longer to let it grow further so that as much hair as possible could be donated.

The hair was donated to The Little Princess Trust, which is a charity that supplies free natural wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer.

Several sections were cut and donated, with the longest measuring the record-breaking total of 172 cm!

She hopes this record can raise awareness and inspire many others to donate hair.
