The longest duration between wins at the UEFA European Championships is 53 years 31 days, and was achieved by Italy, at Wembley Stadium, in London, UK, on 11 July 2021
Their first win came on the 10 June 1968, when they defeated Yugoslavia 2-0 in a replay from a 1-1 draw on the 8 June 1968. In this tournament draws, after extra time, were decided by a coin toss except in the final which had to be replayed. Italy even progressed through the semi-finals of the tournament after drawing 0-0 with the Soviet Union and, ultimately, winning the coin toss.
Their next win, 53 years and 31 days later, was against England, at Wembley Stadium in the 2020 UEFA European Championship final. Despite the game, after extra time, being 1-1 there was no coin toss or replay available and the match was decided through penalties.
The 2020 championship had to be postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19.
