The first woman to climb Dhaulagiri I (8,167 m; 26,794 ft) in the Dhaulagiri Himal, Nepal, is Lutgaarde Vivijs (Belgium), who reached the top on 6 May 1982, without the use of bottled oxygen.

Dhaulagiri I is the seventh highest mountain in the world, and the highest mountain lying within the borders of a single country. The climb - the first by a Belgian team - was made up the standard northeast ridge.
