The first women to climb Manaslu (8,163 m; 26,781 ft) in the Himalayas are Mieko Mori, Naoko Nakaseko and Masako Uchida (all Japan), who reached the top on 4 May 1974.
Manaslu is the eighth-highest mountain in the world. The Japanese expedition in 1974 was the first in which any woman conquered a mountain over 8,000 m (26,246 ft).
