The world's fastest growing flowering plant was the Hesperoyucca whipplei of the Liliaceae family which had grown 3.65 m (11 ft 11 in) in 14 days, a rate of about 25.4 cm (10 in) per day. This was reported by people from Tresco Abbey, Isles of Scilly in July 1978.
