A fungus growing in the Malheur National Forest in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon, USA, covers 890 ha (2,199 acres) - an area equivalent to approximately 1,220 soccer fields. The fungus is Armillaria ostoyae, also known as Honey mushroom, and its age is calculated at being at least 2,400 years old.
