The worlds tallest and longest hedge is the Meikleour beech hedge in Perthshire, UK, which was planted in 1746 by Jean Mercer and Robert Murray Nairne (both UK) to define the eastern border of their land. It measures 540 m (1,771 ft) long and averages 30 m (98 ft) high, although its highest point is 36 m (118 ft).
It is trimmed and re-measured every 10 years and typically takes four men six weeks to cut by hand.
