The most consecutive World Pea Shooting Championships won is three by Dennis Minett (UK) 1971-73, Mike Fordham (UK) in 1983-85 and David Hollis (UK) in 1999-2001. Hollis was also the youngest World Champion, aged just 13 when he scooped the title in 1999. The Championships are held every year in Witcham, Cambridgeshire, England.

The skill is to aim at a target, the size of a dart-board and smeared with putty, gaining five points for the inner, three for the middle and one for the outer circle from a distance of 3.2m 10ft 6in. The only rules are that the pea shooter should be no longer than 30.48cm 12in, although in an effort to get back-to-basics it is likely that laser-sights will be outlawed for the 2002 competition.
This annual July event was first held to raise funds for a new village hall in Wicham, Cambridgeshire in 1971.
