Most crossed frontier

The border most frequently crossed is that between the United States and Mexico. In 2000, over 290 million people crossed from Mexico into the USA, and a similar number passed in the opposite direction. This is equivalent to the entire population of the US crossing the border twice in one year. Of the travellers crossing into the US, 47 million were on foot, while the rest were carried in around 91 million personal vehicles and 270,000 buses. The border extends for 3,110 km (1,933 miles), with numerous border crossing points.
