Victoria Cross - most awarded in a war

The most VCs awarded in a war were the 627 in World War I (1914–18). A total of 634 is usually quoted but this includes VCs awarded for actions during the period 1914-18 but for actions that were outside that conflict, e.g. for colonial hostilities in the Indian sub-continent and for actions against the Bolsheviks in the Baltic Expedition as late as 1919.
