On 5 June 1966, N. William Kennedy slashed free the mooring lines of the 10,639-dwt SS Orient Trader.
The vessel drifted to a waiting blacked-out tug, thus evading a ban on any shipping movements during a violent wildcat waterfront strike. It then sailed for Spain.

On 15 July 2006, the South-Africa registered container ship, M.V. Umfolozi measuring 133-m long, 11,744 dwt, was taken from Walvis Bay, South Africa where it had been detained by the SA Ports Authority in regard to earlier collision investigation. However, in the mean time the ship had been renamed Michael S by its new Greek owner, who coincidentally left South Africa on a flight, the same day as the ship radioed false reports of engine trouble during "engine trials" and was never seen again. The official search was called off a week later and it is thought thought that the ship was on its way to Russia. Nothing can be confirmed, and if the owner did indeed take the ship, is that stealing? See claim: 172970.
