The National People's Congress or NPC (Chinese name in Pinyin: Quanguo Renmin Daibiao Dahui which translates literally as the “National People’s Representative Congress”) is the world’s largest parliament (legislative body) with 2,987 members, meeting annually in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People. Its formal leader is Wu Bangguo who holds the title of Chairman and Party Secretary of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. Although the unicameral body’s powers are limited compared to parliaments in Western Democracies, its members are elected for five-year terms by municipal, regional and provincial “people’s congresses” as well as by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Nothing to add to above save that the NPC is not a democratic body in the Western sense—nevertheless, it is still the World’s Largest Parliament.
Also, there seem to be varying spellings of Wu Bangguo—but this is the way the name is spelled on the official Chinese website.
