On 27 February 1764, at the tender age of 196 days, his HRH Prince Frederick (1763 - 1827) (later to be the Duke of York and Albany), was elected Bishop of Osnabrück, through his father's (George III) influence as Elector of Hanover. Later famed as the 'Grand Old Duke of York', he resigned from his post 39 years later.
He was the second son of George III.
