Since the award was first presented at the 2012 Grammys, Lady Gaga (USA, b. Stefani Germanotta) is the only act to win in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category more than once. She triumphed alongside Bradley Cooper on their A Star Is Born cut “Shallow” in 2019, and her duet with Ariana Grande, “Rain on Me”, took the honours at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards – held in Los Angeles, California, USA – on 14 March 2021.
Previous winners have included Tony Bennett/Amy Winehouse (2012), A Great Big World/Christina Aguilera (2014), Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars (2016), Twenty One Pilots (2017) and Lil Nas X/Billy Ray Cyrus (2020).
Lady Gaga, who beat J Balvin/Dua Lipa/Bad Bunny/Tainy (“Un Dia (One Day)”), Justin Bieber/Quavo (“Intentions”), BTS (“Dynamite”) and Taylor Swift/Bon Iver (“Exile”) to the 2021 trophy, has won both awards she’s been nominated for in this decade-old category.
