First lead-artist female rapper to win Best Rap Song at the Grammys

Megan Thee Stallion (USA, b. Megan Pete) won Best Rap Song at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California, USA, on 14 March 2021. The rapper’s winning track was a remixed version of “Savage”, from her 2020 EP “Suga”, featuring Beyoncé. Best Rap Song has been presented at the Grammys since 2004 and had previously been won by Rihanna (2010 and 2012), Alicia Keys (2011) and Fergie (2012), who were all featured artists on tracks performed by lead-artist males.
Megan Thee Stallion won three Grammys in 2021: Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Savage”, and Best New Artist.
