The longest separation of siblings on record ended through the agency of the Salvation Army when William James Pring of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, UK (b 4 Apr 1904) was reunited with his sister Elsie May Ashford (nee Pring; b 7 Nov 1897) of Southampton, Hampshire on 20 November 1988. They were reunited in London by Major Colin Fairclough exactly 81 years after their separation. The Salvation Army's investigations to reunite the brother and sister took just over two weeks.
