Joe Biden (USA, b. 20 November 1942) was elected US president on 20 January 2021 aged 78 years 61 days.

Biden, the former vice-president under Barack Obama, won a bitterly contested presidential election against Republican Donald Trump – who had previously been the oldest to become president, aged 70 years 220 days. It was the third time Biden had run for president, following unsuccessful campaigns in 1988 and 2008. He became a US senator at the age of just 29, the sixth-youngest in US history.
