Most overall wins of the Formula Student competition

The team that has recorded the most overall wins in Formula Student is Rennteam Uni Stuttgart (DEU), based at the University of Stuttgart in Germany. This team has won the overall classification (which combines scores in both static and dynamic events) four times, coming top of the table in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2016.

Formula Student is an educational engineering competition organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. It held its first event in 1999. The competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers by challenging university teams to design, build and run a single-seater race car.

The overall classification combines the points scores recorded by the teams in eight events. Four of them are "static events", in which the teams are judged on the basis of the engineering design, cost analysis, business planning and quality of manufacture. The other four are dynamic events, which see the cars taking to to the track for a series of time trials. These include a figure of eight on a skidpad, a 1 km sprint race, a 75-m acceleration test and a 22-km fuel economy/endurance race.
