Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017 produced the first instance of a player scoring hundreds in all three formats of a bilateral tour. India’s Rohit Sharma made 102 not out during the Second Test at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on 26 November 2017, 208 not out in the Second One-Day International (ODI) at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on 13 December 2017, and 118 in the Second Twenty20 International (T20I) at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on 22 December 2017.
Sharma’s 35-ball ton at Indore was the joint-quickest in T20I history, matching David Miller’s blitz for South Africa against Bangladesh two months earlier, on 29 October 2017. The Czech Republic’s Sudesh Wickramasekara made it a three-way tie for the record in a match against Turkey on 30 August 2019.
Sharma scored his ODI and T20I hundreds as India captain and opening batsman. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, he made his Test ton in Nagpur from No.6 in the batting order.
Sri Lanka’s 2017 tour of India featured three Test matches (16 November-6 December; 1-0 to India, with two draws), three ODIs (10-17 December; 2-1 to India) and three T20Is (20-24 December; 3-0 to India).
On 13 February 2021 in Chennai, India, Sharma hit 161 in the Second Test against England to become the first player to score hundreds in all three formats against four different teams (West Indies, Sri Lanka, South Africa and England).
