Helene Fischer (Germany, b. Russia) has topped the year-end album sales rankings in Germany five times: in 2013-15 and 2017-18. She was the first act to achieve back-to-back No.1s, with her sixth studio album Farbenspiel (2013-14), and completed a hat-trick of chart-toppers in 2015 with follow-up Weihnachten (featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). Fischer’s self-titled eighth studio album was Germany’s biggest-seller of both 2017 and 2018.

Herbert Grönemeyer is the only other act to achieve the year-end No.1 ranking on Germany’s Official Top 100 Albums more than once (1984 and 2002). Rock music has dominated since Fischer’s coronation, with Rammstein’s self-titled set (2019) and AC/DC’s Power Up (2020) topping the chart most recently.

In 2018, Farbenspiel, Weihnachten and Helene Fischer were confirmed as 12x, 6x and 5x platinum – respectively – in Germany by the BVMI (Bundesverband Musikindustrie). Farbenspiel (“Game of Colours”) is the sixth-biggest-selling album ever in Germany, with confirmed shipments of 2.4 million copies. In 2014, the million-seller “Atemlos durch die Nacht” (“Breathless through the Night”), the second single from Farbenspiel, was the biggest-selling track in Germany.
