US singers Lauryn Hill and Beyoncé (b. Beyoncé Knowles) both received 10 Grammy nominations in a single year, in 1999 and 2010 respectively. Hill turned half of her nominations into wins, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Beyoncé’s six wins in 2010, including Song of the Year (“Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”) and Best Contemporary R&B Album (I Am… Sasha Fierce), set the record for the most Grammy awards won in a single year by a female artist, which was matched by Adele in 2012.
