The most canoeing gold medals won at single Olympic Games is three, achieved by Vladimir Parfenovich (USSR) in 1980, Ian Ferguson (New Zealand) in 1984, Danuta Kozák (Hungary) in 2016 and Lisa Carrington (New Zealand) in 2021.
Nicknamed the “GOAT in a boat”, Carrington won gold in the K1 200 m and K1 and K2 500 m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on 3–5 August 2021 to match the single Games tallies of Parfenovich, Ferguson and Kozák. Kozák herself was part of the victorious K4 500 m team that helped keep Carrington off the podium for a fourth time in Tokyo.
