The smallest commemorative coin measures 2.96 mm in diameter and was achieved by Federal Mint Swissmint (Switzerland) in Bern, Switzerland, on 23 January 2020.

Swissmints vision was to bring a piece of Swiss minting tradition to the global world.

With the 1/4-franc commemorative coin we wanted to push boundaries, stretch limits of technology and achieve something unique.

For the obverse of the smallest commemorative coin in the world, we drew inspiration from Albert Einstein, not least because of his determination and patience.

There were only 999pcs of this coin available and they`re so small you’d need to look very closely to see Albert Einstein sticking out his tongue at you.
