The oldest active personal bank account is 89 years and 87 days, and was achieved by Caiuby Nunes da Costa (Brazil) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on the 20 August 2021.

The oldest bank account was created on the 25th of May 1932, in the name of the housewife Maria Adelaide Azzi Nunes. In 2006, after her death, the physical account was transferred to her son, Caiuby Nunes da Costa, who was currently 89 years old on the date of the last bank statement.

The account was opened at Banco da Lavoura de Minas Gerais, in Brazil. Then it went to Banco Real, and later to Santander. More than 89 years in the same banking.

According to Caiuby, his mother was only 17 years old when she opened the account and it was not common for a woman at that time. His father Adolfo Nunes da Costa was the bank manager and as soon as they got married, he opened the account in his mother's name, to encourage other women to do the same.

In the beginning, it was Father Adolfo who took care of the account and guided them towards the best investments. After his death in 1983, Caiuby oversaw the account while his mother was alive, following the evolution of digital banking.
