William Edward Pattimore (UK, b. 1 March 1892) competed for Wales at bowls at the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh at the age of 78, the oldest competitor at such an international event open to competitors of all ages.
Britain's oldest Olympian was Hilda Lorna Johnstone (1902-90) who was 70 years 5 days when she was placed twelfth in the Dressage competition at the 1972 Olympic Games.
