A 200-year-old Scottish putter sold for £106,000 ($150,000) at Christie's in Glasgow on 7 Jul 1998. It was bought by Titus Kendall, a London antique dealer, on behalf of Jaime Ortíz Patiño, a Bolivian millionaire who will display it at the Valderrama Golf Club which he owns in Southern Spain.
The putter was sold with 32 other antique clubs by the Royal Perth Golfing Society. The sale raised £361,000 ($510,000) for the society to build defences against flooding from the River Tay, from which it has suffered repeatedly over the last 10 years.
