The youngest person to climb K2 is Nima Rinji Sherpa (Nepal, b. 18 April 2006), who was aged 17 years 100 days when he reached the top of the 8,611-m (28,251-ft) mountain in Pakistan on 27 July 2023.

The ascent of the world's second-highest peak was made as part of Nima Rinji's project #SherpaPower, which he began on 30 September 2022 aged 16 years 135 days with an ascent of Manaslu. As a result of his project, Nima Rinji is now the youngest to climb the first two, the first three, the first five and all 14 of the 8,000ers.

In addition, he became the youngest person to climb the Pakistan Five (K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum 1, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum 2).
