The most gold medals won in Winter Olympic biathlons by a male athlete is eight, by Ole Einar Bjørndalen (Norway). He triumphed in the 10 km sprint in 1998; the 20 km, 10 km sprint, 12.5 km pursuit and 4 x 7.5 km relay in 2002; the 4 x 7.5 km relay in 2010; and the 10 km sprint and mixed relay in 2014.
This is the most gold medals won by any Winter Olympic athlete, alongside cross-country skier Bjørn Dæhlie.
