The world's highest bivouac was built by Mark Whetu (New Zealand) (b. 27 Oct 1959) and Michael Anthony Rheinberger (Australia) (1940-94) who reached the summit of Everest on 26 May 1994 and bivouacked just 20m below the summit that night. Sadly a very weak Rheinberger died the next day during the descent.
