The largest expeditionary force to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain is 49 people from the Indian Army Adventure Wing, comprising 22 members of the Indian Army and 27 Sherpas, on 27 May 2025. The climb was made as part of the Indian Army's Silver Jubilee Everest Expedition and led by Lieutenant Colonel Manoj Joshi.
The team commenced their journey from India in mid-April, reaching Everest base camp by 23 April. After enduring intense acclimatization phases and braving harsh weather across camps I through IV, the summit push began late on 26 May. With the support of 27 highly experienced Nepali Sherpas, the climbers made a successful ascent by early morning on 27 May. The project celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Indian Army's last expedition to Everest in 2000. The team comprised:
