The greatest vertical distance on foot in one month (uphill and downhill) is 72,189.14 metres (236,841 ft 0.13 in), and was achieved by Bárbara Padilla (Guatemala) at Volcán Tajumulco, in San Pablo, San Marcos, Guatemala, from 12 April to 11 May 2021.


Engineer Casimiro Caal Beb measured the elevation gain between the start point (613.655 m) and the summit (4223.112 m) using a global navigation satellite system (GNSS). Therefore, one full lap (uphill and downhill) had an elevation gain of 7,218.914 metres. Throughout the route seven key selected points were marked in red for reference.

Bárbara begun her record attempt on 12 April at 4am and finished it on 11 May at 7h03pm, giving a total time of 29 days, 15 hours and 3 minutes. During this time Bárbara was able to complete 10 full laps.
