Puerto Rican duo Calle 13 (René Pérez Joglar, aka "Residente", and Eduardo José Cabra Martinez, aka “Visitante”) collected nine awards – from 10 nominations – when the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards came to the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on 10 November 2011. All nine awards were for Calle 13’s fourth studio album Entren Los Que Quieran (2010) – the most Latin Grammy Award wins for an album. In addition to the Album of the Year and Best Urban Music Album prizes, album tracks "Latinoamérica" (Record of the Year and Song of the Year), "Calma Pueblo" (Best Alternative Song and Best Short Form Music Video), "Baile de los Pobres" (Best Urban Song) and "Vamo' a Portarnos Mal" (Best Tropical Song) all picked up awards. Calle 13 shared Producer of the Year honours with Rafael "Rafa" Arcaute to complete the nine-trophy haul.

No other act has won as many as nine Latin Grammys in a single night. Juanes (2003 and 2008), Juan Luis Guerra (2007) and Natalia Lafourcade (2015) are joint runners-up with five trophies won at a single awards ceremony.

The Latin Grammy Awards were inaugurated in 2000 and the US-based event honours music recorded in either Spanish or Portuguese.
