By adding a remote camera and visual indicators to 'Rex Specs' military dog eye protection goggles, a team from the US Army, USA, have created the world's first augmented reality goggles for dogs. Military dogs play a very important part in conflict situations where their enhanced sense of smell is used to detect and locate explosives and other hazards. Conventionally, the dogs would be directed by their dog handler who would need to be close by, but with the new goggles, the dogs may travel far from their handler. Called 'Command Sight' the new goggles will help to keep handler and dog safe at substantial distances from each other.

Currently wired trials are being conducted, but a radio link is to be added.
