Roy Castle (1932-94), host of the BBC TV Record Breakers programme from 1972 to 1993, flew on the wing of a Boeing Stearman biplane for 3 hr 23 min on 2 August 1990, taking off from Gatwick, W Sussex, England, and landing at Le Bourget, near Paris, France.
