The first medically certified 3D-printed bionic arm is the 'Hero Arm', created by Open Bionics (UK), in 2018.
Each bionic 'Hero' arm and artificial hand is custom built using 3D-printing and 3D scanning technology and can fit children as well as adults. The arm can reportedly lift up to 8 kg (17.64 lbs) and its motor is controlled by muscles on the residual limb.
