The official FAI record for the highest speed attained by a model aircraft is 395.64 km/h (245.84 mph) by Leonid Lipinski (USSR) on 6 December 1971 using a model flown on control lines.
Note this is NOT the same thing as a radio-controlled model aircraft - in this record the aircraft is controlled using control lines that physically connect the pilot and the aircraft.
