The Great American Railway has a total of over 15,250 m (50,000 ft) of HO (1:87 scale) track and is the star exhibit at the Northlandz attraction in Flemington, New Jersey, USA.
The Great American Railway, covering over 4,645m² (50,000ft²) and featuring a 9m (30ft) high mountain (the scale equivalent of a 2,000m 6,000ft peak), is the culmination of 25 years of single-handed work for Bruce Williams Zaccagnino, entrepreneur, concert musician, computer games developer, publisher and joint owner of Northlandz. On their 1.6km (1 mile) tour of the railway, visitors cross 40 foot bridges and get to see 125 trains running over more than 300 railway bridges, the longest of which is 11.5m (38ft) long. The railway also runs past a Swiss alpine village, a 'mountain monastery' and through desert canyons and valleys. The entire miniature world features 4,000 buildings and over half a million lichen trees and contains enough wood to build 42 large houses. The railway is the central exhibit at Northlandz, an attraction which also features La Peep Dollhouse (a 94 room mansion), The Doll Museum (a collection of over 200), The American Music Hall (featuring a 2,000 pipe organ), and an art gallery.
