The most valuable insect collection is an estimated $10 million (£7.79 million / €9.50 million), donated to Arizona State University by Lois O'Brien and Charlie O'Brien (both USA), in March 2017.
Lois and Charlie, both octogenarian entomologists, met at the University of Arizona in the late 1950s. Their collection began during their honeymoon in Canada, leading them all over the world in search of insects. The donated collection contains over 1.25 million meticulously kept insect specimens.
