NASA Astronaut Christina Koch surpassed the record for the single longest space mission by a woman, previously held by NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson in December 2019. The 40-year-old Expedition 61 flight engineer exceeded Whitson's record of 289 days, 5 hours and 1 minute on Saturday December 28th 2019 at 6:16 p.m. CST (0016 GMT on December 29th). Christina finally arrived back on Earth southeast of Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, on Thursday 6th February 2020 at 3:12 pm local time (9:12 am GMT). The record therefore now stands at 328d 13h 58m.
