The largest on record was the sea-going Zheng He, flagship of Admiral Zheng He's 62 treasure ships, of c.1420, with a displacement of 3150 tonnes and a length variously estimated up to 164 m 538 ft. She is believed to have had nine masts.
In c.AD 280 a floating fortress 180 m 600 ft square, built by Wang Jun on the Yangzi river, took part in the Jin-Wu river war. Present-day junks do not, even in the case of the Jiangsu traders, exceed 52 m 170 ft in length.
