The most countries visited on foot in 24 hours is 5, achieved by Dario Marsilio (Italy), starting in Madesimo, Italy and finishing in Lindau, Germany, from 16 to 17 October 2021.

Dario was inspired to break a record while perusing the Guinness World Records book with his children. One of them asked, "Dad, do you hold a record?" which set Dario on a journey to find something that aligned with his trail-running interests. While training, he upped his weekly runs from 50 km to 70 km and progressively got longer from there until ready for his attempt. Along his journey he passed the time with singing, chatting to locals on the path and even trying to converse with the cows. The 144 km path started in Italy, then progressed to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany. It took 23 hours, 35 minutes and his loved ones met him at the German border in Lindau with a red carpet and party-poppers.
