The longest land vehicles ever made are the overland supply trains built by R.G. Le Tourneau Inc. of Longview, Texas, USA for the US Army. One example, the Arctic Snow Train owned by the famous wire-walker Steve McPeak (USA), had 54 wheels and was 174.3 m (572 ft) long. Its gross train weight was around 400 tonnes (880,000 lb), with a top speed of 32 km/h (20 mph), and it was driven by a crew of six when used as an overland train for the military.

It is doubtful if any of these machines are still in use (reports indicate serveral are decaying in scrapyards). They generated 3,500 kW(4,680 shp) and had a fuel capacity of 29,648 litres (6,522 gal).

McPeak reportedly made all repairs, including every punctured wheel, single-handed in often sub-zero temperatures in Alaska.
