The most expensive pigeon sold at auction is New Kim (Belgium), a two-year-old racing pigeon which sold for a reported €1.6m ($1.8m / £1.4m) at the PIPA Pigeon Center, on 15 November 2020.

Bidding started at €200 on 2 November and rose to €1.31m in less than 90 minutes. The auction lasted two weeks and was won by an anonymous bidder from China operating under the pseudonym Super Duper. New Kim only raced in 2018, earning the title of best young bird in Belgium before being retied from racing.

Nikolaas Gyselbrecht, chief executive of PIPA, commented on the auction: “These record prices are unbelievable, because this is a female. Usually a male is worth more than a female because it can produce more offspring".
