Largest wine sale - single-owner

Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber's extensive wine collection of 18,000 bottles, was auctioned at Sothebys, London on the 21 May 1997, raising £3.69million. Described as the greatest single-owner wine collection to be offered at auction, only three lots failed to sell. The total price exceeded previous estimates of between £2 -2.7million.
