An untreated 392.52-carat cushion-cut Ceylon sapphire, called the "Blue Belle of Asia" and set within a sapphire and diamond necklace, sold to an unknown buyer for 16,965,000 Swiss francs ($17,575,700; £11,063,900; €14,101,300) on 11 November 2014. The sale took place at Christie's auction house in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Blue Belle sapphire was discovered in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), in 1926.
In terms of carats, the Blue Belle is the fourth-largest faceted sapphire on record.
