Most expensive playing card sold at a private sale

The highest price paid for a single playing card was £5,000 (then $9,029) for a card dated 1717, which was used as currency in Canada. It was sold by the dealer Yasha Beresiner to Lars Karlson (Sweden) in October 1990. (The above amounts are equal to £8,075 ($14, 972) in 2004)
