The most expensive basketball trading card sold at online auction is the 2003–04 LeBron James Upper Deck Exquisite Rookie Patch card, which sold for $1.845 million (£1.468 million / €1.613 million) at an online auction hosted by Goldin Auctions, on 19 July 2020.
This card was part of the Patch Autograph Parallel set, which only produced 23 cards of it's kind – the number on the back of LeBron James' jersey. The card is only one of two out of the whole set to be graded as 9.5 mint gem, and features an original autograph by James himself.
