The fastest time to make true-summit ascents of all 14 mountains over 8,000 m (26,246 ft) without the use of supplementary oxygen is 2 years 150 days by Nirmal "Nims" Purja (Nepal/UK), who completed the challenge between 7 May 2022 (Kangchenjunga) and 4 October 2024 (Shisha Pangma).
The record for climbing all 14 without oxygen was previously set at 7 years 310 days by South Korean climber Kim Chang-ho. Nims went on to climb the 14 again, becoming the first person to climb the 8,000ers twice.
