The first brothers – and first siblings – to make true-summit ascents of the 8,000ers are Mingma and Chhang Dawa Sherpa (both Nepal), achieved after Chhang Dawa completed his true-summit ascent of Manaslu on 19 September 2024.

Both brothers had previously climbed all 14 of the 8,000ers but returned to various mountains in 2023 and 2024 to make true-summit climbs.

In October 2024, along with brother Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, the siblings also established the record for the most siblings to climb the Seven Summits, the highest points on each of the seven continents.
