Youngest Producer of the Year – Non-Classical winner at the Grammy Awards

FINNEAS (USA, b. Finneas O’Connell, 30 July 1997) was 22 years 180 days old when he was named Producer of the Year – Non-Classical at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, staged at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 26 January 2020. He won the award for his work as the producer of When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, the debut studio album by his younger sister, Billie Eilish.

Michael Jackson (b. 29 August 1958) and Toto members Steve Lukather (b. 21 October 1957) and Steve Porcaro (b. 2 September 1957) were all 25 years old when they won Producer of the Year – Non-Classical Grammys – “Jacko” (25 years 183 days old) alongside Quincy Jones, for Album of the Year winner Thriller, at the 26th Annual Grammy Awards on 28 February 1984, and Lukather (25 years 125 days old) and Porcaro (25 years 174 days old), for Album of the Year winner Toto IV, at the 25th Annual Grammy Awards on 23 February 1983. Lukather was, therefore, the youngest recipient of Producer of the Year – Non-Classical before FINNEAS.

FINNEAS collected five Grammys at the Staples Center on 26 January 2020: Producer of the Year – Non-Classical, Album of the Year (both for When We All Fall Asleep…, the latter shared with Eilish), Song of the Year, Record of the Year (both for “Bad Guy”, shared with Eilish) and Best Engineered Album – Non-Classical (for When We All Fall Asleep…, shared with Rob Kinelski).

FINNEAS co-wrote every track on When We All Fall Asleep… with his sister, except for sole writing credits for “When the Party’s Over” and “My Strange Addiction”.
